Fawn Lake from E. Odell

March 24, 1985

The weather report said cold front, travelers advisory, lots of snow in the mountains. But as we gathered at the South Eugene parking lot, the sun was shining through a big hole in the clouds. This proved to be a good omen as we headed up to East Odell Lodge for our ski trip into Fawn Lake.

Several inches of new snow covered what had been a very icy trail. Mostly sunny skies with a brief snow flurry combined with the new snow on the ground made for a very nice trip. We left Odell Lodge at about 10 a.m. A relaxing lunch at Fawn Lake preceeded the trip back down. The trail was in good condition, but because of its hairpin turns on some steep sections, several folks appreciated the new snow cushioning an occasional spill. All 12 skiers were back at Odell Lodge by 3 p.m.

Fawn Lake skiers were Audrey Cummings, Bea Fontana, Jane Hackett, Ann Moore, Wes Prouty, Bobbye Sorrels, Gene Thaxton, Joe Turner, Leigh Williams, Tom Woxell, and leaders John and Janet Baker Jacobsen.
