Lake Tahkenitch Campground to Threemile Lake

October 2, 1985

Our party was fortunate to have excellent weather. Three cars from Eugene met the car from the Coos Bay area at the Tahkenitch Campground and we proceeded toward Threemile Lake by the new path that winds through the trees. Some found nice mushrooms. We looked out over the lake and the sea while we ate lunch beneath a sunny sky, then returned via the beach to the trail that leads through the trees and back to the cars. All of us attended a hearing at the Florence City Hall, before the commissioners, concerning the regulation of offroad vehicles. Several us testified in favor of closure. Being late, one carload opted to stay for dinner.

It would be difficult to have more optimum conditions and a more congenial group who consisted of Dee Bray (on her birthday), Evelyn Carlson, Dallas Cole, Gladys Grancorvitz, Dot Leland, Helen Lynch, Mary Millman, Alice Richter, Alys Riley, Lois Schreiner, and Margaret and Ewart Baldwin, leader.
