Our group of seven left Eugene at about 0700 and arrived at the trailhead at 0910.
The weather was warm and the predicted rain did not appear.
The mosquitoes were out in force for the first two miles of the trail.

We stopped for lunch at 1330, short of Collier Glacier View.
We all agreed that we had come more than the advertised 7 miles.
After lunch we strolled to the viewpoint to see the much-shrunken glacier.
We started back about 1430 and the fast hikers had time for a quick dip in North Matthieu Lake.
The leader brought up the rear arriving back at the trailhead at 1815.
We reached Eugene at 2030, thankful that it was still daylight.
