Hunts Cove

July 20-21, 1985

We had agreed before the trip that the weekend would be spent exploring around Hunts Cove and the area south of Mt. Jefferson. So, soon after arriving at our campsite by the spring at Hunts Lake, we were on our way up the steep ridge to Coyote and Shale Lakes. Shale Lake was just right for swimming and foot dabbling, and after an hour of relaxing we were back at camp for supper and bed amid clouds of mosquitoes.

We were up early Sunday and soon on our way east past Cathedral Rocks to Table and Patsy Lakes. Table Lake is a little visited and real beauty spot in the south Jefferson Wilderness. We saw only two hikers on this several mile hike. Back to camp early afternoon for a six mile pack to cars were Bob Foster, Becky Hanson, Betty Macy and Lee Hatch, leader. The four who cancelled at the last minute—late Friday night—missed a great weekend.
