Crescent Mtn

We stopped at Fish Lake on the Clear Lake Cutoff for rest stop, to put on boots, and have snack. After a short drive west on the Santiam, we took Lava Lake Road and followed well-marked road to Crescent Mountain trailhead. Day was hot but trail in woods was pleasant. The botanists enjoyed the many flowers in the woods but we found that most of them on side-hill meadows were gone. Quantities of blue butterflies gave us color on that stretch though. Good views from the meadow and the top, soaking feet in Maude Creek on return (by those who were ahead of the slowpokes), good conversation all along were enjoyed by non-Obsidian Una Munson and Obsidians Margaret Wiese, Mike Horowitz, Mae Jackson, Mert Hayman, Hero Lee and leader Catherine Jones.
