McKenzie River Trail

April 14, 1985

A very punctual and high spirited group of hikers met at 9 am. in the SEHS parking lot. The sunshine filled morning beckoned us to the task ahead. Away we want, nine hikers, in two cars headed up Highway 126 for a rendezvous at Paradise Campground. It was here that we got on a part of the McKenzie River Trail. We were on the trail at 10:45 a.m. passing Starr Creek, Lost Creek and Belknap Road. The “oohing” and “aahing” over the wildflowers could be heard along the trail. As planned, we returned to Lost Creek for a leisurely lunch. Then back to the cars while enjoying magnificent views of the McKenzie River and enjoying the surrounding beauty of the forest and the accompanying spring odors.

All nine hikers returned to the SEHS parking lot at 4 p.m. happy and refreshed. They ware Eckherd Auberlen, Bernie Claypool, Gladys Grancorvitz, Diane Mayes, Judy Nelson, Joyce Straasberg, Darlene Thomasec, Merge Tomseth and leader Gerry Tomseth.
