Father’s Day Pancake Breakfast

June 16, 1985

What a delightful event! The weather co-operated; the food was good, the decorations were beautiful, the turnout great, the volunteer help wonderful. I do, however, especially want to thank the following:

The Traudt’s who set up the lodge Saturday, and were on the job again at 7 a.m. Sunday to get the coffee going. Further, four appliances (2 grills, a frying pan, and roaster) were out-of-order. Merle spent hours fixing them all save the oven which can’t be salvaged.

Vera Woolley who provided all the floral decorations including two magnificent arrangements which would have won “Best-of-Show” in any competition.

John Cecil who prepared the attractive table announcements shown above.

Joe Fowler of the Original Pancake House for the two buckets of tasty batter.

And the late volunteers not shown above, viz., Bernie Claypool, Suzanne Steussy, Leona Devine, Dorothy Turner, Joella Ewing and Fred Schepman.

Many thanks to all of you who contributed to the success of the breakfast. It was most enjoyable in honor of our fathers, and fun for all, even the workers. The grapevine is that “next year the moms want some special attention”—what do you Obsidians say to that?!! (Editors note—We used to have it on Mother’s Day and the mothers decided they didn’t want to do that kind of “thing” on their day. Has it changed back?)

Or, yes, we even realized $81.67 to be exact, and 93 adults and 3 children attended the breakfast. In case you haven’t already noticed, this years Entertainment Committee is a hard-working, unbeatable crew—thanks again, gang!
