Midnight Lake Loop-Willamette PassJanuary 22, 1984Although seven people had signed up for this trip, we only had a total of four people. Maybe the small turnout was due to the Super Bowl that day. At any rate it wasn’t due to poor snow conditions as we had a super time on excellent snow. We left Eugene about 8:10 a.m. and met Emmy Dale and a student of hers, Sally McGavin, at the Dairy Queen in Pleasant Hill. After arriving at the trailhead about 10:30 a.m. we had a nice tour into the lake. The weather conditions were foggy so our view of Diamond Peak was obscured. After a relaxing, but chilly lunch time, we took the road out on our return to the parking lot. Before reaching the cars we took a slight detour on the Pacific Crest Trail, which added about a mile to our planned tour. Happy skiers were Emmy Dale, Mary Vogel, Sally McGavin and leader Sandra Larsen. |
