Shotgun Creek

December 2, 1984

Fifteen eager hikers showed up Sunday morning on a day that was overcast but quite brisk. The trail as it left the park was quite wet in places as we followed up along the creek—especially at the many little streams crossing the trail—as a result of all the rainy days in the past week. Once we started up the Drury Ridge section we were on dry ground. Many ‘has-been’ mushrooms were spotted under the trees but the rain had spoiled them. We ate our lunch up at the viewpoint, but didn’t linger long because of the cold wind. We got back to our cars just ahead of the rain.

Everyone seemed to enjoy the trip and we all agreed that more close-in trips like this should be searched out, especially for winter time trips. Enjoying the trip were Joan Benson, Genie Currier, Judith Engle, Barb Elsen, Bob Foster, Dorothy Hayes, Miki Hutchison, Dot Leland, Bonnie Ledford, Robert Massey, Virginia Prouty, Robin Pierce, Alys Riley, Alice Wilcox, Paula Vehrs, and leader Elizabeth McMullin.
