A sudden change of “torrential” weather turned to a goodly Sunday morning for
this annual Little Cowhorn trek in the Lowell District—rain gear was carried as
insurance only, mandatory flash-lights were later used to good effect.
Starting at Bedrock Campground, our small group hiked west along Fall Creek Trail, up the
5.3-mile Jones Trail to FS Road 1317, then to the (accessible-by-car) Little Cowhorn Trail.
Access to the lookout house was partially blocked by drifted snow (on the steeper, part!).
The return trip took longer than anticipated and an important Obsidian Conservation
Committee meeting was missed by some.
A very enjoyable hike and great to see so many other people “short-routing”
it to the top!
Long route Little Cowhorners were Bob Foster, Betty Legris, Ingrid Peterson, and leader John Cecil.
