Mt Yoran

October 7, 1984

One could not hope for a better trip than this. The weather, the people, the scenery, the fall colors were a hiker’s dream come true. We had a short pause to admire Notch Lake, then reached the ridge top without undue effort where the views of Diamond Peak and rocky Mt Yoran open up. Shortly before reaching Divide Lakes some of us heard an elk bugle. The lakes were so inviting with the warm sun and the reflection of fall colors that Linda Rockwell, Lyn Lagrander and Norma Levy chose to spend the afternoon there while the rest of us scrambled up the steep slope to the narrow ridge and top of the south peak of Mt Yoran. We lunched and picked out all the lakes and hills and mountains over several thousand square miles. Those reaching the top were Gary Haller, Barbara Spinner, Doris Allen, Judith Engle, Bob Foster, Whitey Lueck, Jon Levy, Glenn Meares, Dave Predeek, Andy Thompson, & ldr. Betty Legris.
