Oppie Dildock Pass

August 11, 1984

The hikers assembled at South’s parking lot at 7 a.m. and took off for the McKenzie Pass shortly afterwards. We arranged for a car shuttle between Scott Lake trail, which was our entry to the Three Sisters Wilderness and Frog Camp where we came out. By 9:30 we were on the trail and after several stops arrived at the promontory at Oppie Dildock Pass at 12:30 p.m. where we had lunch. Karen Seidel who has made this trip several times declared that she had never seen the visibility so good. And we agreed that the view of the Cascade peaks was terrific. After lunch we split into three groups: one group went on, another went to Collier Glacier viewpoint, and another went to the top of Collier Cone. Later we all rendezvoused at Sunshine Camp. By this time we were tiring in various degrees so the trip out was made at different speeds. All of us managed to shuffle in to Frog Camp between five and five-thirty to end a long but pleasant hike on a beautiful day.

Oppie Dildockers were Harold Busby, Bob Emmich, Mary Fulton, Rose Hess, Lin Pierce, Anne Montgomery, Ingrid Peterson, Gayle Russell, Karen Seidel, Robin Steussy, Eleanor and Lisa Wilkerson, and leader Richard Heinskill.
