Hardesty Mt. Trail

May 9, 1984

Three dedicated hikers set out on a cloudy Wednesday to climb to the top of Hardesty Mountain. This spring the trail comes complete with a built-in obstacle course of wind-fallen trees. A wonderful surprise, a newly built hikers bench awaited the weary walkers at the intersection of the trail with Crape Creek Road. From there on up, the obstacles were fewer and further between and we reached the top 3½ hours after starting. It was cool; lunch was brief with a simple view of low-lying clouds. Then we headed down the mountain. Luckily, the day was not dampened by rain and a good time was had by all. The three committed hikers were John Cecil (also an excellent bench builder), Robin Steussy, & leader Suzanne Steussy.
