Badger MountainApril 15, 1984Badger Mountain? Nobody had heard of Badger Mountain. Then this must be an Obsidian FIRST. Drive out Highway 126 past Noti, 27 miles from Patterson St parking lot to be exact, look for gate on left side of highway, IP sign. From here we walked the well-packed gravel road a little more than 2 miles up to the top. This summit is the highest point in the surrounding area, and provides a good view of much of the coast range, and you’ll find Fern Ridge Lake at your back. A nice spot to beckon one on a sunny day in spring. Along the way the timber stands thin and dense, sword fern enormous, wood violets competing vigorously with spring beauty and trilliums. Though we didn’t see a badger, everyone thought it was a very worthwhile trip. Along came Miki Hutchison, Anne Montgomery, Harlo Perrin, Margo and David Spielman, Robin Steussy, David and Lydia Stone, and leader Paula Vehrs. |
