Mt Pisgah

April 8, 1984

Our day started in pouring rain and unusually cold weather for this spring day hike. Eight hardy hikers showed up out of the 16 who signed up. We arrived at the top of Mt Pisgah at about 10:30 a.m. amid snow flurries, fog and about an inch of snow on the ground. What a surprise! Bill helped us out by pointing out all of the points of interest we would see from the top if we could see. At that point we could just barely see each other. We hiked down the way we came up (the west side trail) and ate our lunch in the Quonset at Buford Park. After lunch the rain let up and we took a tour of some of the trails at the arboretum. We arrived back at the parking lot at 2:30 p.m.

This Sunday outing confirmed again my feeling that Obsidian hikes are special mostly because of the people I meet and spend that time with. The “people” that made this a special time are as follows: Marguerite Halttunen, Miki Hutchison, John McManigal, Harlo Perrin, Naomi Prouse, Judy Landrum and leaders Donna and Bill Eimstad.
