Mt Pisgah (East to West)March 17, 1984It rained like something for two hours before dawn on climb morning. As a result half of those signing up for the Mt. Pisgah Trip chose to stay warm and dry. However, at 9 a.m. the sun was out. We left two cars at the roadhead in Buford Park and then Lucille Mitchell chauffered us in her car to the east trailhead just off Ridgeway Road in Pleasant Hill. We followed the gravel road, then cut across woods to the upper power line, then gravel road to the top. Although the skies were threatening, we had only about ten minutes of light rain. For the three who came, this was their first trip up Mt. Pisgah. With our backs to the wind, we ate lunch on the rock pile at the summit and enjoyed the sunshine. We were able to identify the nearby landmarks and mountains, but the high Cascades were under a cloud cover. We were all home by 1 p.m. in time to see the St. Patrick’s Day parade. Trippers were Linda Blitz, Jody Johnson, her daughter Julie, and leader Bryant Mitchell. |
