Mt. St. Helens
July 19, 1984
“Karen, I just happened to think The bulletin’s not coming out
until Thursday, and you have a potluck scheduled for Thursday.”
I turned as white as a blanched almond.
Of all people, my guest speaker was to be none other than Don Hunter, a veritable
planet in the Obsidian all-star cast of photographers.
But committee heads are used to catastrophes, and it was a large and appreciative
audience that took in Don’s three-screen, multimedia program on Mt St Helens
and the geologic history of the Cascades.
God bless Dallas Cole, Donna Eimstad, Joella Ewing, Jane Hilt, Betty Legris,
Bonnie Ledford, Helen Lynch and Vera Woolley, who comprised my impromptu telephoning
People were so impressed with the personal contact that 56 of them showed up and paid
$15.00 in fees altogether.
