Berley LakesMarch 13, 1983The weather report and our own instincts said rain at the pass elevation, but a few miles below the summit the rain turned to snow and which greeted us at the trailhead. We followed the skyline trail using old ski tracks, a now and then compass check and a few blazes found deep in tree wells into the old Jack Shelter area, then on to lower and upper Berley Lakes arriving at upper Berley at noon. On our return trip, we crossed over to the Pacific Crest Trail and followed this trail back to the trailhead. Those enjoying the snow and the day were Tom Donnelly, Bea Fontana, Fran Gnose, Dick Hildreth, Dave Predeek, Wes Prouty, Chris Shuraleff, Gene Thaxton, Jan White and leader Glenn Meares. |
