McKenzie PassFebruary 26-27, 1983Drove to Sisters, then west within half a mile of the East gate. Skied 7 miles to Lava Camp Lake Road, left packs and on to Summit ½ mile away. Took pictures and enjoyed scenery. Back to packs, then one mile to Lake where we set up camp. After dinner back to Dee Wright Observatory in the moonlight. The North and Middle Sisters, Washington and Jefferson were majestically beautiful with their white mantels. After breakfast and breaking camp next morning we enjoyed 4" of new snow beneath our skis as we again crossed the pass and down the west side ½ mile. It was so warm that we tried for a suntan by going shirtless. Then a downhill run to the car and on home. Skiers Greg Hendrickson, Hans Tachersich and leader Frank Moore. |
