S. Rosary Lake via PCNST

January 23, 1983

Stormy weather was predicted, but we decided to go anyway. The day turned out to be bright and clear. Wonderful fresh snow, but the trail to South Rosary Lake had been traveled by skiers earlier in the day. Altogether the conditions were unusually good and made for an easy and thoroughly pleasant trip. A few people did have to scrape and wax skis because the temperature was very mild, but that small inconvenience was offset by the lovely sunshine.

At least one car stopped at mile post 49 (not very far above Oakridge) to confirm the existence of a beaver lodge which is visible from the edge of the road. If you have not yet checked on that point of interest, be sure to remember to do so.

Rosary Lake skiers included Tom Donnelly, Maggie Gontrum, Sandra Larsen, Bonnie Ledford, Dot Leland, Rachel Major, Herb McMurty, Wes Prouty, Chris Shuraleff, Byron Skang, Jan White, Darryl Winser, Ruth Wisner and leader Emmy Dale.
