Matthieu Lakes

January 15, 1983

Cloudy skies and variable snow conditions were the order of the day for this trip. Our destination, Matthieu Lakes, was a bit too far for a day trip considering our late start. Our group was fortunate enough to view the Sisters, and even Mt. Hood to the north as we skied within two miles of the lakes.

This is the third consecutive year that this trip has been attempted and each year the prospect of reaching Matthieu Lakes improves. I suspect that a successful visit to Matthieu Lakes via skis will occur sometime before the end of this century. The annals of obsurdia will hopefully exist to record the magnificent event.

Overall it was a good trip and a great group. Participants in this expedition were Zola Ehlers, Mary Fulton, Lee Lashway, Marriner Orum, Velma Shirk, Gene Thaxton, Chuck Ware & leader Sam Miller.
