Christmas Tree Hunt on McKenzie Ranger District—

Eleven of us congregated Saturday morning in front of the Rustic Skillet Restaurant near McKenzie Bridge. Our caravan of cars then stopped at McKenzie Ranger Station to purchase a dozen or so Christmas tree cutting permits before heading up the Foley Ridge Road. The road is paved, and fortunately for us there were already car tracks worn through the snow which was about half a foot deep when we reached our destination 4 miles up Foley Ridge. In the logged areas there were plenty of trees of all sizes to choose from and everyone seemed satisfied with their selection. We found an excellent tree for the lodge. The weather which was unsettled all week was showery with periods of sunshine. Christmas tree hunters were Mari Baldwin, Amy Clugston, Paul Furrey, Jane Hackett, Margaret Hadaway, Karen Houglum, George Jobanek, Kathy Perkins, Joe Lowry, Gene Thaxton and leader Dave Predeek.
