McKenzie River Trail
October 23, 1983
It was dark, cold and foggy as eight brave ladies gathered at SEHS parking lot.
We were sure by going to the beginning of the McKenzie River Trail at Clear Lake
we would be in the crisp warm sunshine.
Sure enough the weather became crystal clear just 1ike the Lake.
Just east of Sahalie Falls we met a group of mushroom pickers, and, along with
Paula’s expertise, enjoyed a lesson in mushroom identification.
We shared lunch overlooking Sahalie Falls where the mist from the upper and from
the lower falls created a brilliant rainbow arch.
Enjoying Sunday’s outing were four nonmembers:
Cathy Boucher, Mary Jean Petterson, Margaret Leary, and Nancy Simmons.
Members included Gladys Grancorvitz, Alys Riley, Paula Vehrs
and leader Bernie Claypool.
