Tipsoo Peak from Wits End:
This little known trip, in the Umpqua National Forest, is very scenic and it
is very easy (1631' elevation gain in three miles on excellent trail).
The trailhead from Wits End road is at 6400'.
The summit of Tipsoo is 8031'.
Two lower peaks on the some ridge offer hikers the option of doing 3 peaks in a
day within minutes of each other.
Views from the summits include Mt. Thielsen (N side), Mt. Bailey (N & E sides),
Howlock Mtn., Diamond Peak, Cowhorn Mtn., Sawtooth, Cinnamon Butte, and Miller,
Maidu, Alice, Diamond, & Lemolo Lakes.
The overnight trailhead camp and the leisurely hike on Sunday were enjoyed by
Doris Allen, Glenn Meares, Merle Traudt and leader Wes Prouty.
