October 1, 1983
The first day of October and of hunting season dawned clear and pleasant.
Fourteen very congenial hikers gathered at 7:00 a.m. and after a drive up the
McKenzie and a few miles down the North Santiam highways, started hiking at 9:2O.
The trail was in good condition and shared by a few hunters.
We arrived at the top of this excellent view spot in small groups between
11:45 and 12:45.
Mountains from Hood to Broken Top were clearly visible as well as the many
lakes below us.
After much lunching and visiting, we reluctantly left at 2:00 p.m. with memories
of another “special” Obsidian hike.
The hikers included Ted Castell, Bob Foster, Joan Keigher, Catherine Jones,
Christine Ligneau, Ruth and Wayne Lill, Ed Lovegren, Wilma Moore, Dan Morgan,
Fred and Jean Richardson, Fred Schepman and Margaret Wiese, leader.
