Erma Bell Lakes

August 21, 1983

This Sunday in August was an ideal day for hiking and as we drove to Skookum Creek Campground, our spirits were high and we were a congenial crowd of seven.

We left Skookum at approximately 10:15, and hiked to the Lower Erma Bell Lake on a wide, well kept trail. The faster ones went ahead meeting us there. Some took pictures and we raided our lunches before starting on to the Middle and Upper lakes. Shortly after leaving the Lower Lake there is a bridge that was in need of repair last year, and has now been repaired. Whitey, our biologist, identified many flowers for us, and found an orchid at the Upper Lake where he went swimming.

We returned to the Lower Lake for lunch, sunbathing and swimming, leaving about 3:00 p.m. and arriving home about 5:00 p.m. Altogether a very pleasant day. Those enjoying the day were nonmembers K.C. and Rosa Kim, Whitey Lueck and Kris Middlewood, and members Ruth Smith, Miki Hutchison, and leader Bette Hack.
