Scott Mountain

July 31, 1983

Left South Eugene Parking Lot at 8:30 a.m. It was overcast with a slight drizzle. By the time we got to the McKenzie Highway, it was very foggy and looked like a miserable day to hike. But after we cleared the grade, the weather broke off just beautiful, and was nice the rest of the day.

The trail was in excellent shape and well maintained. On our way up we stopped at Benson and Tenas Lakes, and enjoyed the view. After we left Tenas Lakes, we encountered a considerable amount of snow. In places it totally blocked the trail, and we were forced to detour. After we reached the top, we were rewarded with a very clear, beautiful view of the Sisters, Mt. Washington and vicinity. The mosquitoes were really out in force, and we were constantly fighting them. On our way down we again stopped at Tenas and Benson Lakes.

There were seven people on this trip: non-members Sheryl Gregor, Moki Honz, Norma Lockyear, and Alan and Jody Norris; members Karen Seidel and leader, Bill Dollemore.
