July 3, 1983
This has always been a delightful hike along the pristine trail
beside Pamelia Creek into Pamelia Lake, then up Grizzly Peak through
still blooming rhododendrons, by a refreshing waterfall and on to the
summit with a stunning view of Mt. Jefferson wrapped in fresh snow
from the recent weather.
We encountered still deep snowdrifts the last half mile of trail where
it is sheltered by a northwest exposure.
A leisurely lunch in the warm sun and then, with reluctance, it was
time to start down.
Enjoying this day together were Harold Busby, Carol Cunningham,
Barb Elsen, Brian Kerins, Cindy Meares, Lindsay Pierce,
Gene Thaxton, and Tom Woxell.
Joining the group from Corvallis but hiking only to Pamelia Lake were
Boy and Cindy Snider.
Leader, Glenn Meares.
