Badger MountainApril 27, 1983A pleasant hike on a most pleasant midweek day to long-neglected Badger Mountain in the Coast Range was preceded by an unlimited coffee stop at Hi-Ho-He-Hu’s cafe in Veneta. After a leisurely 2½ mile stroll up a little-used logging road to the old lookout site atop the mountain, and views of endless ridges and hills south and west towards the coast, our crew sunned, lunched, generally relaxed and ogled Bonneville workmen atop the new communications tower there. On the way down, International Paper’s John Perry (Unit Forester) met us, offered maps of the area and some helpful suggestions for further hikes in this fascinating area (watch this space for details). A further coffee stop (D.Q.) at Veneta completed our day. On Badger Mountain were Peter Cecil, Bryant Mitchell, Mike Wright and leader John Cecil. |
