Short cut to Mt. JuneApril 24, 1983A beautiful clear, sunny morning when we started out. I had told the group we should see many early spring flowers through the heavy timber of the lower end of this short-cut trail. Imagine cur surprise as we got closer to the trailhead to see fresh snow on the trees that had come in during the night. As a result, the whole trip was made in three to four inches of fresh snow. Of course, all flowers were hidden under this blanket, but the whole scene was like a winter wonderland. The fog clouds lifted before we left the top, and some of the Cascades were visible. On Mt. June were Herb Lee, Alys Riley, Robin Steussy, Evelyn Schmitt, Fred Schepman, Susan and Ed Wajakowski and leader Elizabeth McMullin. |
