Mt. Pisgah

April 23, 1983

This marks the tenth anniversary year and trip to the Arboretum site. It is amazing to see the enormous amount of work that has been accomplished by volunteers over the years.

Wildflowers were everywhere along the four miles of trails. Construction of the bridge over the water garden is progressing, and will be completed this summer. It was cloudy and cool — just right for hiking up the steep trail along the power lines. On the way we found lots of zeolite. On top it was windy so we had a short lunch stop, and then hiked down the Summit Trail. Near the end of this gravel road we saw evidence of the rotting basalt.

It was a great, short hike enthusiastically enjoyed by all, and we missed the rain! Arboretum admirers all were Bob Foster, Joyce Brooker, Lauri Goolsby, John and Linda Horsfall, Herb and Lelia Lee, Mary Jean and Mary Ann Peterson and leader Dorothy Leland.
