Larison Rock Trail
April 20, 1983
Larison Rock Trail #3623 in the Rigdon District is one of my favorites. It was a lucky day for all of us because the weather was dry and cool — perfect for hiking.
The long and the short of it has to do with legs and energy — theirs and mine. So on this trip the leader was a lagger. But even that was lucky because I was able to enjoy hiking longer than the others.
John Cecil and Marshall Pallett zipped to the rocky top and waited for the rest of us. Lelia Lee was next, and the five were not far behind. The other five were Volney and Marjorie Kelm, Mary Ellen Spink and Bill and Lois Morse, the lagger. We all reached our destination by noon and were able to enjoy our lunch under cloudy skies. The visibility was limited but conversation and sharing were not.
There were many things I recall which made the day memorable for me — meeting new friends, renewing past friendships, the sheer joy of hiking and, of course, the ice cream stop. But on this day, the utmost delight for me was to show John Cecil a trail that he hadn’t found before. I will probably never be able to do that again. It was a lucky day!
