Old Baldy

April 17, 1983

We left the South Eugene parking lot under partly cloudy skies and headed toward the Coburg Hills and Old Baldy. Because the previous week was a dry one, the ground was relatively dry (“you call THAT dry?”). We did slog through several rivulets on our-march to the top. A number of wildflowers were spotted — lots of wild iris, some Lamb’s Tongue, and wild strawberry. After a lunch break on the sunny summit, we spent some time exploring the area and looking for good views of Mt. Jefferson and the Three Sisters. The best view was found on the saddle between Baldy and the peak to the North. Anne Montgomery lead us down from the saddle to give the trip an interesting loop. THANKS ANNE!

The hikers were Joyce Brooker, Maude Caldwell, Ruth Coffman, Dave and Jan Horton, Nancy Johnson, Lane and Jack Linstrom, Anne Montgomery, Henrietta Richmond, Corey Vanderzanden, Kerry Williams and leader Mary Ellen de la Pena.
