Yachats to WaldportFebruary 20, 1983Anticipating a leisurely, easy, sunny hike on an Oregon beach, eight eager people met at the Adobe Motel in Yachats. The tide was in so we started north on the trail on the foredune. Rain and wind were fairly heavy as were the waves. We were not able to get on the beach till after 1¼ miles, then easy the rest of the way. Found a nice dry protective cove for lunch. We all enjoyed seeing a one-legged sandpiper scurrying about catching his lunch, a sea lion observing eight beach hikers, a sign of spring—jonquils blooming en the beach. Winter still reminded us that it was still early with its high waves and moderate winds which sent clouds of foam slithering along the sand on the beach. Sharing Oregon wet sunshine were Helen and Leo Martin, Corrine Hunt, Janet Hosan, John and Pete Cecil, Ardath Church, and leader Bernie Claypool. Addendum—Washington Street is where? |
