McKenzie River TrailJanuary 30, 1983We began our 8-mile round trip hike at Trail Bridge Reservoir and headed up river towards Tamolitch Falls which we reached in less than an hour. From here we continued our hike north along the portion of the McKenzie River bed which was left dry when the water was diverted underground to Smith Reservoir. We reached a point just south of Carmen Reservoir where we stopped for lunch. There were some patches of snow as we gained elevation. The sky was overcast but there was no rain until we were nearly back to the vehicles again. Hikers were Judy Forell, Margit Hollerud, Anne Montgomery, Ethel Steussy, Frank and Ruth Sumich, Bert Tepfer and leader Dave Predeek. |
