Old Baldy - Coburg HillsJanuary 16, 1983The ambitious group that left South Eugene’s parking lot was prepared for a foggy, viewless day on Old Baldy. We were pleasantly surprised that as we approached the top the fog cleared and although the sky was overcast, we did have a view of the valley and its more prominent land marks. While on the top we were also able to observe a group of Western blue birds that are residing there right now. Because the group was so fast, we included a trip to the TV towers behind Baldy as well as a knoll beyond that. The day was concluded about 2:00 p.m. with lunch under the trees at Armitage Park. Hikers were Rick Ahrens, Marcy and Volney Kelm, Bob Huffman, Don Johnson, Paul Murray, Marshall Pallett, Mary Jean Petersen, Mike Wright, Roberta Zais and leader Jane Hackett. |
