Sunset Beach to Cape AragoJanuary 8, 1983The participants on this hike got an extra day of sunshine and a treat to beautiful high waves crashing spectacularly against the rocks and blooming into the sky. The trail, for the most part, goes along cliffs overlooking the ocean. You can get on the beach at the start and again about half way. The sea lions and seals were basking in the sun at Simpson Rock at Cape Arago. On our return walk we walked through Simpson Botanical Garden. Our group had two factions due to one car missing a turn on the freeway, so even though we all eventually took the same hike, the two groups didn’t see each other again till the end of the hike. We all had an exhilarating day and our special order weather began at the start of the hike when rain changed to sun. Participants on the hike were Barb Elsen, Fran Gnose, Nola Nelsen, Jean and Fred Richardson, Fred Schepman, Gene Thaxton, Bob Walden & leader Shirley Froyd. |
