Hardesty TrailMarch 6, 1983Ten willing workers descended the Hardesty Trail to reroute a steep wornout section of tread ¼ mile below Crale Creek Road. A gentler grade had previously been flagged by members of the Trails Committee. The hundreds of hikers who use this trail will soon be able to breath a sigh of relief when the three long overdue switch backs are completed. Despite the threat of a damp day everyone pitched in wielding pulaskis and grub hoes to rough-out the majority of the new section. A follow-up trip will be made soon to complete the project. It appears that only one person read the fine print on the sign-up sheet, thanx for the pastry Elliot. All hikers using this popular trail in the future owe a big thanx to Don Payne, Marshall Pallett, Betty Legris, Jerry Casby, Melinda Bruce, John Cecil, Mary Bridgeman, Elliot Aronin, Helen Smith and leader Pete Cecil. |
