Rosary Lakes loopApril 4, 1982With reports of 5 feet of new snow on the trail, we left the Willamette Pass Ski area at 9:45 a.m. We broke trail for the next 7 hours all the way around the loop until we reached Lower Rosary Lake. Needless to-say, we would never have made it except for the trail finding and breaking skills and cooperation of the group. It was a real thrill after 6 hours of trail breaking to reach the ridge above the Rosary Lakes and spot Rosary Rock. Some members of the group skied straight down the ridge to Upper Rosary Lake in hip deep powder. The sun came out periodically on the trip, especially for lunch at 1 p.m. at Wait Here Camp and again at 5:30 p.m. as we were passing the Rosary Lakes heading down to the ski area where the last of the 10 people to complete the loop arrived at 6:30 p.m. Rosary Lake Loopers were: Dick Hildreth, leader, Jan Baker, Rae Lynn Biggerstaff, Dennis Biggerstaff, Bob Devine, Jan Gallenstein, John Jacobsen, Lee Lashway, Carole Kompanik, Kris Wolters & Sandra Larsen who went part way. |
