Berley LakesMarch 13, 1982Fourteen skiers left the new parking area about 10:00 and followed the Pacific Crest trail north past the Square Lake Junction for perhaps ¼ mile, then switched to map and compass as the trail signs disappeared under a deep snow pack topped with more fresh snow. With some zigs and zags, we arrived at the old Jack shelter location for lunch and then proceeded up to the lower Berley lake at about 2 p.m., our turn around point for the day. The snow in the area was fresh and powder — what a delight to see and ski!!! A new route was selected for the return and good runs were enjoyed by all, coming into the parking area via the old Pacific Crest trail near the Presbyterian Lodge. Those enjoying the day were Doris Allen, Emmy Dale, Bob Devine, Tom Donnelly, Bea Fontana, Dorothy Hayes, Richard Hildreth, Carole Kompanik, Dick Loescher, Eve Lonnguist, Wes Prouty, Chris Shuraleff, Romella Taylor, and Glenn Meares, leader. |
