Elk Lake Lodge
March 5-8, 1982
Although not without a few hitches this year, the great weather and good people made this year’s Elk Lake trip a memorable one.
The planned Rock Mesa trip did not come off. We did have our first women’s led ski trip on Sunday put together by Doris Allen and Mary Fulton to the Six Lakes area. With some assistance from Glenn Meares and Marriner Orum, we found two of those lakes — Blow Lake and, of course, Doris Lake.
At the same time, a smaller group was making a shorter but much more vertical trip up a butte to take in the great vistas of the surrounding mountains. For those who chose to stay closer to home, there were shorter trips around Elk Lake, sunshine and relaxation.
The Sunday night potluck is always a highlight. We all stuffed ourselves on the more than ample fare. I appreciate the energy and imagination the trip members put into this meal. It was the perfect meeting of good food and good friends.
Skiers were Doris Allen, Margaret Crosland, Bob Dark, Bert Ewing, Bea Fontana, Mary Fulton, Fran Gnose, Jane Hackett, Lee Hatch, Richard Heinzkill, Betty Legris, Joe Lowry, Glenn Meares, Marriner Orum, Dave Predeek, Parker Riddle, and Gene Thaxton.
