Gold LakeJanuary 24, 1982With predictions of rain and warm temperatures, skiing did not seem likely to be that enjoyable. As it turned out, the sun blessed our trip most of the way. However, the drifts of snow were very soft and wet, making breaking trail to Marilyn Lakes and on the Waldo Lake Road rather hard work. Sally and Kris took the lead on trail-breaking, while the rest of us enjoyed the sun and views of Maiden and Diamond Peaks and Mt. Ray. Only skiing down the Waldo Lake Road, and back out on the Gold Lake Road were we able to do much gliding. All agreed it had been a fine day and a real workout considering the predicted conditions. Skiers were Sharon Fraley, Sally Grosscup, Chris Ligneau, Kris Wolters, and leader Dick Hildreth. |
