Peace reigns again atop 3,330-ft. Cap Hagan (near Nimrod) up the McKenzie.
Space-age technology has at last substituted quiet, clean, non-polluting
solar panels for the previous hearty roar of the repeater station’s
one-lung hot pot diesel generator.
Work on the change-over was still in progress as this Wednesday group
struggled and heaved its way up the badly eroded, neglected, overgrown and
sometimes invisible trail.
One unnamed veteran of this trip missed an early turnoff and road-walked to
the summit, arriving hale and hearty long before the main body!
“Halfway” weather gave us “halfway” views of the
McKenzie Valley spread out before us, but in the words of the poet
“a good time was had by all”!!
Windblown, but peaceful on Cap Hagan were Wilbur Groner, Joanne Haines,
Herb and Lelia Lee, Maureen Willison, Betty Legris, Bryant Mitchell,
and leader Juhn Cecil.
