Shunning the “traditional” approach (drive F.S.
Road 1817 to base of Lookout), Sunday’s mini-group slid its icy
way to Bedrock C.G., and hefted up “old Friend” Jones Trail
through (soon-to-be!) Rhyolite country, a 22-mile round trip.
A crisp, frosty, but exceptionally beautiful day: warm, sunshine
graced our over-long lunch stop, and darkness predictably overtook us two
miles from our return point, justifying flashlight possession.
(Winterization and fitting of a temporary storm door to the L.O. had been
effected by Look-Out “Buff” Richard Miller of Pleasant Hill.)
“Long-way Little Cowhorners” were Betty Legris, K.C. Kraft,
and John Cecil, leader.
