Halloween on Substitute Point! Our day was crisp and clear with a very friendly, kind WITCH OF THE MOUNTAINS haunting this spectacular high for and bringing visitors on this day joy, happiness and rozy cheeks.
There were patches of snow around, a few inches, soon to become feet. The mountains stood so beautiful in their mantle of new winter snow. Everyone appeared to have an enjoyable trip. Many thanks to co-leader Kathi Stroh.
This will be my last lead until 1984; I'm going to take a small respite from leading trips and climbs with the Obsidians. So, to all my hundreds of friends who have gone with me on my trips and climbs over the past ten years, I want to say at this time “thanks for the memories” and my very best wishes for your future year and lots of love and many enjoyable trips and climbs to come. Belay off and auf-Wiedersehen.
Hikers were Doris Allen, Jerry Brindle, John Cecil, Barb Elsen, Bob Foster, Wilbur Groner, Betty Legris, Anne Montgomery, Glenn Meares, Henrietta Richmond, and co-leaders Parker Riddle and Kathi Stroh.
