October 27, 1982
This “almost-a-snowshoe” Wednesday hike was enjoyed by
eight Obsidians and one nonmember.
Early precipitation made the entire trail into a Christmas card scene
— pure white, virgin snow underfoot, trees and bushes draped likewise.
Mild, pleasant walking conditions prevailed throughout.
Three Fingered Jack loomed in there somewhere at lunch time (cooled a
little by snow dropping selectively from high branches).
A brief white-out was experienced on the return trip.
Santiam Lakers (a congenial group, indeed) were newcomer Sarah Coursen
and Obsidians Dallas Cole, Margaret Crosland, Wilbur Groner, Lee Hatch,
K.C. Kraft, Betty Legris, Bryant Mitchell and leader John Cecil.
