Rosary Lakes

September 25, 1982

On a cloudy day, with a rainy forecast, eight hikers left Eugene for Willamette Pass. Instead of rain we had sunshine much of the day. We passed the lower lake, and went on to the upper lakes, where we had lunch in the sunshine. Ted then tried his luck at fishing (unsuccessfully), while several others decided to climb the hill, up toward Rosary Rock, above the lakes. One reached the summit, and two others stopped just short of it.

After descending to join the others, we started out with Ted meeting us at the lower lake. A short distance from the trailhead, we were greeted by a mist. After a few minutes in the parking lot, we were just getting into our cars when the rains finally caught up with us. We returned to Eugene before 6:00 p.m. It had been a pleasant, easy day of hiking, with the only steep part being the climb up toward Rosary Rock. Hikers were Mari Baldwin, Mary Burnet, Ken and Louise Masterson, Bob Foster, Sandra Larsen, Ted Stern & leader Norm Benton.
