This hastily-arranged hike on one of the hottest days of early August
attracted a sparse group of four.
True to the weather forecast, rain fell briefly during our drive-in.
Good all-round views were enjoyed atop this spectacular, wind-swept crater.
Timely first-aid by Peter enabled Betty to hobble back down to the car after
an unpleasant knee-twisting fall on the unstable lava trail.
Black-and-bluers at Vi’s Pies on the way home were Peter Cecil,
Betty Legris, Suzanne Steussy, and leader John Cecil.
