Rebel Rock Lookout
August 1, 1982
Two signed-up nonmembers were “no-shows” but seven
Obsidians did enjoy the uphill and always interesting Rebel Rock trail.
A few large blow-downs (18"+?) still obstruct foot travellers.
Volunteer Wilderness Guard Helen Smith welcomed us to her “territory”.
(V.W.G. Mary Bridgeman was also in the area, but did not
materialize . . . )
A leisurely visit and lunch was enjoyed in the neatly-kept Look-Out house.
Our return to Eugene along Highway 19 to Westfir afforded first-hand views of
the threatened “South Fork Corridor” timber sale area to
Peter Cecil, Margaret Crosland, Bob Foster, Wilbur Groner, Lee Hatch,
Betty Legris and leader John Cecil.
