Twin Lakes

June 27, 1982

Meeting the leader Lloyd Plaisted at the Tom-Tom Restaurant in Roseburg about 9:30 am. we were off up the North Umpqua Hwy about 43 miles to jct with Service Rd #4770. There we left Donn’s and Ken’s motor homes and headed up the last 10 miles in smaller transportation. Reaching the trailhead at end of road about 11:00 a.m. we started hiking in going first up to the viewpoint above the lakes. Reaching there about 12:30 for lunch and some picture taking. The weather was threatening all day with the sun playing hide and seek but not a drop of rain fell on us. Maybe that’s because Joe Lowry said it would be a good day. Anyway, it was a good day for hiking. The rhodys and many other flowers, plants were really abundant. After lunch we went down and around the lakes. Well some of us did! On the trail back we could see Mt. Bailey and most of Mt. Thielsen. On way back we stopped at Fall Creek and walked in to the falls about ¾ mile for a side trip. Great day for all. Those making this trip were Jean and Donn Chase, Bob Foster, Val Thoenig, Ken and Arlene Williams, Silvia Stead and leader Lloyd Plaisted.
